Hot Holiday Hair

Well, I finally tried to straighten my hair. I decided I needed something new and fresh for the holiday. I shampooed, deep conditioned, blow-dried and flat-ironed my beautiful tresses. It was a chore, let me tell you!! This was a while ago, so let me see if I remember correctly. I pre-treated the night before using the remainder of my Herbal Tame, shampooed the next morning using Gold Medal's Headstrong Ultra Care shampoo. I followed that up with a deep conditioning using my Gold n Hot Bonnet dryer and Queen Helene's Cholesterol plus my own add-ins.
After rinsing that out completely I did a moisturizing treatment using Neutrogena's Triple Moisture Daily conditioner. I sectioned the hair and let it dry in about six large twists, which took all day, so I called it a night. The next morning, which was the 4th, I woke up at 6am and started the blow dry/flat-ironing process. For blow drying, I started with the back sections first. I took down the twist, then sectioned and detangled, then used Frizz Free Weather Shield Spray by Gold Medal. I used an old dryer with brush attachment because I broke the comb attachment years ago. Once the section was complete, I plaited it and pinned it down. After I completed blow drying the whole head, I started at the back and began flat ironing. I sectioned off my sections and used Fantasia IC Hair Polisher to finish then corn-rowed the section and bumped the ends. This style lasted all of 1 hour, I decided to go walking along the lake on one of the most hot, humid days of the year. I looked like Simba when I got home, SUPER pissed!! I tried this again, using Dove hair spray for hold, that too was a no go.

Soooooo.......I ended up flat twisting it. I sectioned the hair, lightly misted it with plain old water and used my shea butter mix to seal then twisted using Naptural85's stretched twist out method. This turned out great and I will do this style again. Maybe not the straightening, that was too much work!!

Well, golly gee whiz, thanks for asking! Like many of you, I've been just living. I'm kind of tired of that routine so I've have been making a  half ass attempt at sprucing up my life. HOW, you might ask? Nothing drastic, just small changes that I'm trying to get used to before so that they can become staples in my life. I don't want to do something that's a total 360 from what I'm used to, I'm easing into transition. Yes, just like when I was transitioning from relaxed to natural. Wait....I didn't transition, I wore a wig for 2 weeks and said "TA HELL WIT DAT, IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT, DEN DON'T LOOK!!" Shoot, my head was itching and sweating, I couldn't take, I cut t

Water Only Washing......Beyond 30 days

After a warm/cold rinse More than a year ago, I decided to for go using traditional shampoos and conditioners. I started whipping up my own hair products with some success, but nothing to brag about. Now I always have an assortment of butters, oils and essential oils, not to mention aloe vera, distilled water and honey. My bathroom cabinets look more like a pastry kitchen than a place to do your business! I wasn't exactly losing any hair and checking out new hair recipes was my quiet, me time.  Through mostly browsing  the web I happened upon the water only method after trying the max hydration method (MHM) for about a month. Though I liked some of the results I was getting with MHM, it didn't have the simplicity that I was looking for. I was basically looking to do nothing to my hair, but I still needed to look presentable #sistagotaJOB, so I found the simplest method for WOHW from an article on BGLH . I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it before. Not sh
