Kera Minerals Review

Are you looking for a natural relaxer? Well, this may or may not be the product for you. First off, it is not all natural. Secondly, it does contain chemicals. Third point, which is the bonus(I think), it does not relax you hair. The Pros You can apply to the entire hair shaft every 6-8 weeks, not just new growth You don't need gloves It won't burn your scalp Use on natural or processed hair Can wear hair "curly or straight" The Cons Contains sodium sulphite (can cause dermatologic reactions) Stinks (my kitchen smelled like a salon) Costs about $30 (bought mine on sale $25) Leaves a filmy feeling on hands (temporary) Needs high heat to straighten nicely I bought Kera Minerals by Silk Elements at Sally's Beauty Supply after hearing rave reviews from a co-worker. I used it on my daughter, unfortunately I heard about it a month after I tex-laxed my daughters all natural tresses. You will need to purchase the shampoo, deep conditioner and leave...

The Caramel Treatment, Easier and CHEAPER!!

We've all heard of the fantastic results that this treatment can yield. I have not actually had the pleasure of making this concoction on its own, however, I sort of made it via the max hydration method. I personally, did not reach max hydration and gave up. It was too time consuming, but that's another post for another season. With that being said, I published this post 5 years ago and am just now revisiting it, checking links, making sure the images appear, etc. I tried checking out soulistic87 on eHow.com but it seems this poster is no longer active on this site. In May of this year, 2015 that is, not the year 2000, I thought I was ready for a new hair journey. Microlocks, braidlocks, jennylocks (that's what I've been calling them),  or whatever you want to call them. I took an entire week braiding my hair into these tiny braids, hoping it would deter me from taking them down in the near future. I was wrong, painfully wrong. I will now spend more time rem...

BAKA Naturalaxer Mix

In continuing on my series of "natural relaxers" I found this gem which goes by the name of Natural-Laxer. I have tried the N atural-laxer from BAKA on three separate occasions now. To be truthful, I like it!! It is a bit tedious and messy, but I think it's worth it to loosen the coils sans chemical treatments. Its also pricey at $14 for 2 ounces but no  which is more than your traditional high priced chemical relaxer, that no one wants anymore because we all joining # TEAMNATURAL . Now if you do some research on this product you will probably find out that baka is Japanese for the word "fool" and anything else that falls in that line. After all, we look a little foolish trying to change how GOD made us, all perfect and everything!! I purchased this product from http://www.treasuredlocks.com/  you can also find it on their website  and on Amazon.com . Down below you can find other products by Baka for maintenance. I  have used it with and without the rosew...

Natural Relaxers, quote, unquote..

The Curlaway System (UPDATED 11/23/16) On September 2009, I did the unthinkable for a lot of  black women.....I BC'd. That's short-hand for "big-chop". If you are a part of the natural hair community, you know this term and have seen all over the place.  I cut all the permed locks from my head and have been on a mission to find some miracle product to make my hair more manageable. When I say manageable, I mean something that makes my hair look like I have a texturizer in it. I was looking high and low to find something to turn my type 4 hair into type 3 ringlets y'all!! I mean....I wanted it all, I wanted the  #LOOK without the chemicals, the glory without the guts. I wanted body, sheen, luster, soft bouncy ringlets, no tangles, and most of all, I WANTED THE LENGTH!! I have looked at many hair-blogs, websites, long hair forums, natural hair forums and so on and so on. Check out my chemical hair journey at http://members.fotki.com/SkorpyanJ/ . I have tried N...
